Light Appearing in Cold Air
As we release the Christmas season, …lo how a rose ere blooming, …we sing into the season of epiphany, the changing light as winter proceeds, and I’m tinkering at some longer-term projects, and just sorting, reorganizing, settling in with the Spirit’s work of removing what clutters our life images.
I want to highlight the online 8-week program with Wild Indigo Guild. A gentle indoor time of learning with others, a late-winter and Lenten discipline, with hands and feet moving to spring. I’ll also offer a two part class on the christian calendar and shaping a seasonal practice of christian faith in greater participating with the wider earth and heavens. Go to the “Build” page to learn more.

It’s been cold west of the cascades since the 12 days of Christmas delivered us into the new year and its star-guided appearances.
And it’s been cold in the interior of the continent as well. I recently enjoyed beautiful walks in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and various locations around Penn’s Woods West. Chilly enough to keep you moving, not so cold you couldn’t pause for some momentary wonder calling you closer.
As the sunlight lengthens the days, and shines a warm glow through the cold, clear air, we can listen in prayer, scripture, the leadings of our hands and feet to work and play, the subtle and sudden anticipations of spring, and the gift of dwelling in winter. We sense compassion for those whose wintering is less secure.
On February 2nd, Candlemas, Grundsaudaag, we can remember animals and their messages, give thanks with offerings of bee-made wax for the Light generously shining forth in the life-cycles of animals, of the young child and family approaching the holy one, and of you.
